Working at Heights Stage 2 – Fall Arrest Harness Training

Working at height presents real risks, and workers using fall arrest equipment need the right training to understand how to work safely, correctly, and in line with site expectations.

This one-day Working at Heights Stage 2 course provides practical, hands-on training for workers who are required to use a fall arrest harness system while working at height. Learners will develop the knowledge and skills needed to inspect, fit, adjust, use, and connect a safety harness system safely.

The course is assessed against NZQA Unit Standard 23229 – Use a safety harness system when working at height.

 

Course Overview

Learners will cover the key requirements for working safely at height, including hazard awareness, equipment checks, harness fitting, connection to suitable anchor points, and the safe use of personal fall protection systems.

Training is delivered by experienced trainers and includes both theory and practical activities to support learner confidence and site readiness.

1 day – 8 hours, in person

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Learners should be physically able to participate in practical harness use activities and must bring suitable clothing and footwear for practical training.

Inspecting harnesses and associated equipment before use

Correctly fitting and adjusting a safety harness

Assessment

Learners will complete theory and practical assessment activities during the course.

To be awarded the unit standard, learners must demonstrate the required knowledge and practical skills to use a safety harness system safely when working at height.

 

Outcome

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a certificate of achievement for NZQA Unit Standard 23229 – Use a safety harness system when working at height.
